Vocation

Vacation is a term used in the English language in North America to designate a long time away from work or school, a trip abroad, or simply a pleasure trip away from home, as a trip to the beach, which lasts several days or more. In the rest of the English-speaking world, the word holiday is used, while in North America, "holiday" is normally the case for a national holiday or long weekend linked to such a day. In some cases, "holiday" is used in North America, which means that a vacation is taken during a period of traditional national holidays should be extended to the end of the period by taking additional time off from work Creation of a longer working time unused, a long "long weekend", as it were. This practice is common in the United States, where employers provide far fewer days of annual leave (see below), the European employers are stretching national holidays tends to retain its accumulated total of eligible days available for more quality Tour holiday.

In England, the word "holiday" referred specifically to the long summer break taken by the courts (and later universities)-a custom introduced by William the Conqueror of Normandy where it was intended to facilitate the harvest. The term french is similar to American English: "The Holidays". The term comes from the fact that in the past, families of the upper class would literally move to a summer home for part of the year, leaving their usual family home vacant. Most countries in the world have laws on the compulsory work a certain number of days of free time each year to give to a worker. In Canada, the legal minimum is two weeks, while in most of Europe, the limit is significantly higher. Neither China nor the United States requires that employees receive any vacation time at all. There are movements fighting for legislation requiring a holiday for American workers as timeday.org.

In modern practice of employment, vacation days are often coupled with sick leave, holidays, and sometimes personal days.

The Americans and Canadians, especially those from the last British or European descent, may also use the word "holiday". "Annual leave" is a phrase used in other Commonwealth countries. Many Canadians use both "spirit" and "vacation"; "... I am going to take a vacation ..." Is a common expression, something that is not often heard in the United States.
